This blog discusses the possibility that the environment can have an effect on the performance characteristics of a musician.
In this series I will be discussing the phenomena with a variety of practitioners in the field of audio production. I will be conducting a series of experiments in order to gather data on whether or not both the acoustics and aesthetics play a role in how a musician interacts with their instrument.
My name is James Prosser and I have had the privilege of working in music production for the past eight years both in the studio and as a live sound engineer. During the last four years I have been working on a freelance basis at Cantine Di Badia Recording which is a recording studio situated on the grounds of a 10th century castle in the hills of the Chianti region in Tuscany. Whilst working there I have had the privilege of working with a wide variety of musicians from a wide range of musical backgrounds including renowned jazz musicians and chart topping pop artists.
